Evaluation of some Tomato Genotypes for Nematode Resistance and Detection of the Mi-1.2 Resistance Gene

چکیده
Response of fourteen tomato genotypesfrom different geographical regions to root-knot nematodes (RKN; Meloidogyne spp .) was evaluated for two seasons under greenhouse conditions. Two PCR-based markers (Mi-23 and REX-1) were used the detection RKN resistance gene (Mi-1.2) in tested genotypes. The results showed a wide variation among genotypes their responses RKNs. Highly significant differences observed gall index egg masses per root system. Based on nematode bioassay, genotype Strain B F1 highly resistant ranked top Floradade VF145-B resistant, Castlerock, Peto86 Qaha moderately Super strain B, E115, Marmande, M82 Edkawy susceptible, E37, E40 Giza-80 susceptible RKN. Molecular analysis with Mi23 REX-1 indicated heterozygous state (Mi/mi) Mi-1.2 F1; meanwhile, remaining displayed homozygous recessive (mi/mi). These finding suggested that could be develop new cultivars through breeding programs. In addition, identified present study as (mi/mi) considered or may possess other genes controlling resistance. However, further studies are still needed determine these control RKNs tomatoes.

Evaluation of the Resistance of Some Indigenous Wheat Genotypes to Cereal Cyst Nematode, Heterodera Filipjevi
Cereal cyst nematode (CCN) is one of the most deleterious pathogens of cereal crops worldwide including Iran. The species Heterodera filipjevi is widely distributed in the fields of wheat. Growing the resistant cultivars is a suitable environmental friendly and cost-saving procedure for nematode control. In current research, the resistance of 13 indigenous wheat genotypes and seven common ...
متن کاملVariation in resistance to the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita in tomato genotypes bearing the Mi gene
Root-knot nematodes ( Meloidogyne spp.) are among the main pathogens of tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum ) worldwide. Plant resistance is currently the method of choice for controlling these pests and all the commercially available resistant cultivars carry the dominant Mi gene, which confers resistance to the three main species Meloidogyne arenaria , M. incognita and M. javanica . However the ...
متن کاملThe effects of Nematode Infection and MI-Mediated Resistance in Tomato (Solanum Lycopersicum) on Plant Fitness
The Mi gene in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a single, dominant resistance (R) gene that confers resistance against several species of insects and root-knot nematodes. This study examined the impact of root-knot nematode infestation and the plant growth and reproduction of near-isogenic tomato cultivars with and without Mi. The objectives of this experiment were to examine the potential fitn...
متن کاملThe Contrasting Effects of Elevated CO2 on TYLCV Infection of Tomato Genotypes with and without the Resistance Gene, Mi-1.2
Elevated atmospheric CO2 typically enhances photosynthesis of C3 plants and alters primary and secondary metabolites in plant tissue. By modifying the defensive signaling pathways in host plants, elevated CO2 could potentially affect the interactions between plants, viruses, and insects that vector viruses. R gene-mediated resistance in plants represents an efficient and highly specific defense...
